To help you select the most accurate skip bin for your needs, we’ve included the frequently asked questions that our customers ask:
Q. How high can I stack rubbish in the bin?
A. Make the contents of the skip bin level with the top of the bin as much as possible. Just avoid ‘Hay-stacking’ which is creating a large mound of waste in the centre of the skip bin. ‘Hay-stacking’ a bin makes the skip bin unsafe for other road users on our way to the City of Geelong council tip. An unsafe hay-stacked load, and objects protruding from the sides of the skip bin is illegal to carry on the road.
Q. I’m not sure what size skip bin I need to hire.
A. The most often question we receive is what size skip bin do I need. It’s a hard one for us to answer because we’re not able to view what size a customer’s rubbish pile is prior to dropping off the skip bin.
The best advice we can give for selecting the right skip bin is measure out the different sized skip bins we stock in your yard, marking out the bin size measurements against a wall or a fence etc. This should give you a better idea if the different sized skip bins we stock are a suitable size for your needs.
3 Cubic metre skip bin measures 1.8m in length, 1.5m in width and 1.2m in height.
4 Cubic metre skip bin measures 2.5m in length, 1.5m in width and 1.2m in height.
5 Cubic metre skip bin measures 2.5m in length, 1.6m and 1.5m in height.
4 Cubic metre walk-in skip bin measures 3.6m in length, 1.6m in width and 70cm in height.
6 Cubic metre walk-in skip bins measures 4m in length, 1.5m in width and 1m in height.
8 Cubic metre walk-in skip bins measures 4.2m in length, 1.8m in width and 1.1m in height.
10 Cubic metre walk-in skip bins measures 4.2m in length, 2m in width and 1.5m in height.
12 Cubic metre walk-in skip bins measures 4.4m in length, 2.2m in width and 1.5m in height.
20 Cubic metre walk-in skip bins measures 4.5m in length, 2.5m in width and 1.75m in height.
If possible, break down all your garbage into small pieces to make the most of your skip bin hire. For example, a full bookshelf can take up half the skip bin, however when dismantled the bookshelf only takes up a few inches of the bottom of the skip bin.
Q. Can I have a skip bin dropped off on the council nature strip?
A. Yes we can drop off a skip bin onto the council nature strip, but a City of Geelong council permit is required. We can organise a permit for you, so all you need to do is fill up the bin with your waste material.
Q. Can I have a regular bin delivery for my business or building site?
Yes. We have many clients who use our regular bin drop off and pick up service. Just contact us anytime to discuss your waste disposal needs, and choose a bin that’s the right size for your individual needs.
